Satisfaction levels are as important as audience numbers. Audience rating reflects the scale of the audience, while satisfaction levels reflect the quality of the programs/channels. Currently, evaluation of television programs mainly relies on an index related to audience size, however, the index related to program quality is rarely used. In fact, those two indexes are two independent vertical vectors: there are programs with both high ratings and satisfaction, and there are also programs with both low ratings and satisfaction. Therefore, we need to study satisfaction separately from ratings in order to reach a comprehensive understanding of any given channel or program.
With the popularization of internet within households and the development of online survey technology, and based on our strong access panel resources, ePanel can provide continuous and high quality data on satisfaction levels at a relatively low cost. Via continuous audience satisfaction surveys we can provide a dynamic feed of audience comments on program quality. Combining audience satisfaction with ratings, we can establish a thorough analysis and evaluation system for channels or programs. |
